SONGÜL KARAKOÇ

I designed a photography book titled Jasmine for photographer Esra Özgüroğlu. She shared her journey of expressing nature through the photographs included in the book, which inspired my design approach.

 

Guided by the keywords strength and sensitivity, I aimed to reflect the photographer's perception of nature in every detail of the design, with a particular focus on typography.​

 

To challenge conventions, I used the back cover as the functional front cover, featuring the book's title, the photographer's name, and the publishing house's logo. For the actual front cover, I debossed one of the most striking images that embodied the guiding keywords into the fabric cover, adding texture and depth. The book’s size and fabric binding were also carefully chosen to complement

its aesthetic and tactile qualities.
