THE SCENT OF TREES
Ağaçların Kokusu (The Scent of Trees) tells the story of a woman who returns to her hometown after 20 years to investigate her father's suspicious death. In doing so, she confronts her estranged and changed siblings. At the heart of the play is a man tragically killed—his throat cut by his own child. This harrowing act is rooted in the father's staunch resistance to urban transformation, which threatens to demolish their home, cut down trees, while simultaneously offering financial gain to the family.
In the poster design, I focused on the father's resistance and his determination to preserve his way of life by placing this crucial tragic scene at the center. To convey these themes, I created a visual pun by merging the image of a tree root with the father's throat, highlighting resistance, the enduring bonds of family, and a deep connection to home and roots.
